Here’s a fabulous amateur music review of an album I’m long overdue to buy; Phil Ochs I Ain’t Marching Anymore. I’ve only discovered his music in the past two years, and I’m kicking myself for not having tried it earlier. But then, as I’ve stated in past posts, these protest songs are so shockingly fitting to today’s political concerns that it’s possible I wouldn’t have appreciated them before Bush’s re-election.

I Ain’t Marching Anymore is one of the most well-known Ochs songs. It is an out-and-out war protest song, outlining how throughout history old folks have always sent young folks off to war to kill and be killed and urging the youngsters to start refusing. This was Ochs’ favorite of his own songs, and his words it borders between pacifism and treason, combining the best qualities of both.
