Great snarky letter from Harry Truman to Joseph McCarthy, which was sadly shelved before it was sent. Perhaps it could have curtailed or prevented the mess that followed, but then we wouldn’t have had the fantastic “sense of decency” retort by Joseph Welch, so I’m torn.
