Rick Moranis

Rick Moranis has released another album – this time a terrific “country” one. For those not in the know (probably anyone under 30 and living outside Canada), he had a similar spoof album in the mid-80s on which he lounge-sang his way through “Turning Japanese” and “Da Doo Doo Doo” and rapped his way through “Girl from Ipanema.” One of my wackier friends played it as background music at his wedding reception – naturally the geek table was the only one to pick up on the joke.

The samples provided on the site are encouraging, especially “I Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” which is a brilliant take-off on Hank Snow’s mid-century hit, and may well become my personal theme song.
