BBC NEWS | Americas | Oregon county bans all marriages

Confused by the twists and turns of the US gay marriage issue, Oregon’s Benton County has decided to err on the side of caution and ban all weddings.

Two states in the Union I’ve always wanted to visit are Vermont and Oregon, because they have an almost European aura of intelligent, positive activism. Such a witty protest with a strong and serious humanist undercurrent! I would say the citizens of Benton County are lucky to have such leaders, but something tells me luck has nothing to do with it.
