Academy Awards 2006

Oscar nods are like Olympic figure skating results; the person clutching the award is rarely the one who deserves to win. They win as a result of a lazy Academy (e.g. Crash not Brokeback) or process of elimination (e.g. Clooney for Supporting Actor because he got nominated for three more prestigious – yet political – categories.) Cleaning up on Oscar pools is one of the nicer side effects of being a cynic.
