UPS: Rates for Customs Clearance into Canada

http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html

I’m contemplating a printer purchase from the US, and as usual, the seller will only ship via UPS. This is a shame, for as any Canadian who has inadvertently had something shipped UPS knows, the shipping charges you were quoted always wind up being grossly underestimated. UPS likes to charge “brokerage fees” whenever it has to cross our friendly, relatively undefended border. Unlike the other couriers, however, it chooses to gouge a people already taxed up the wazoo, and has thus earned the undying loathing of myself and many other Canucks. The printer’s cheap enough that I may do well to bite, but trying to get a sense of the mystery fees is leading to some serious price ranges. What I love (not really) is that, at the end of this enormous list of insulting fees and charges, they have the temerity to state that further charges may apply! There’s a reason their uniforms are the colour of poo, you know…
