I thumbed this up a few days ago for its concept. I’m back to review it for the content. Someone came up with the concept of “one-minute vacations” – 60 second recordings made by people around the world of ambient noises. One poster records fantastic “ice booming” in Minnesota. Another records the hiss and clang of a mechanized press. A contributor from Australia sends the sounds of her friends laughing and jumping into water. Anyone contemplating the purchase of an ambient noise machine would do well to skip it in favour of a few of these downloads. Delightful stuff.
