Dozens of CBS television affiliates are balking at network plans to rebroadcast the acclaimed documentary “9/11” for fear that coarse language by firefighters in the film may incur stiff new fines for indecency.

The FCC is terrorising broadcasters into an alarming degree of stupidity. I’ve seen this documentary – it is a difficult but important film featuring the only footage taken inside the tower as it collapsed. It also features the unfortunate sound of human bodies exploding on pavement, and descriptions of body parts and the horrific burns suffered by those fleeing the area. And of all this, the networks are worried about the swearing.
