When my family visited Arlington Cemetary in my early teens, my father was more affected by Omar Bradley’s grave than any of the other illustrious residents. I remember him saying that Bradley was a gentleman soldier, and by his Wikipedia entry, that seems to be true:

Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than about peace, more about killing than we know about living.
