The Notebook (2004) – IMDb

I would write that I want the two hours of my life back that went into watching this schmaltzy, saccharine movie, but I watched most of it on fast-forward, so I’ll settle for an hour and ten minutes. It’s poorly acted, and miserably written – why do more and more movies these days feel like first drafts? My eyes got their full rolling workout at the dialogue; for a movie which purports to be set in the 1940s, there’s at least one “like” and plenty of jarringly modern deliveries. I marvel at those people who willingly fork over their hard earned money to watch this dreck in the theatres – even a free copy from the library makes me feel gypped. Must… Cleanse… Palate!
