I’m starting to harp on this, but since he seems to be omnipresent these days, I feel compelled to restate my dislike of Richard Dawkins. I love his message, I love his determination, but the man is a droning bore without an iota of humour. His cause would’ve been much better served if his old pal Douglas Adams were still around to feed him some good lines.
Of all the questions I fielded during the course of my recent book tour, the only ones that really depressed me were those that began “I’m an atheist, BUT . . .” What follows such an opening is nearly always unhelpful, nihilistic or – worse – suffused with a sort of exultant negativity.
Exultant negativity – that’s me in a nutshell.
I’m an atheist, but… I hate Richard Dawkins.
