Because I’m a bitch when it comes to slagging Microsoft’s PR, I thought I’d take a gander at the status of their much-vaunted iPod-killer, the Zune (remember that?)
According to Amazon’s helpful best seller list, it seems the Zune is currently being outsold by 71 other products, one of which is the iPod USB charger.
Of course, Vista will sell far better, as there’s a built-in customer base who will be forced to upgrade by their IT staff, or the IT types in the family who insist the new version is better. Microsoft’s crowning achievement was the creation of an entire industry to support its product. When the very profitable livelihood of individuals is at stake, they’ll promote the related products as much as they can.
