Another boat-rocker article – man, I love these!

A group of New Yorkers has assembled a Freelancers’ Union, offering a la carte health benefits at prices 40% below what the freelancers would typically pay to an insurance company. The plan is to expand the coverage both in services and regions. Interestingly, the increasingly outdated “traditional” unions are taking notice. As is pointed out in the article, unionism has been evolving since the days of the Florentine guilds; it’s fascinting to witness the shift into the 21st century.
