Jacques Cartier

About a decade ago, minute-long historical vignettes started appearing on Canadian television, filling the gaps that were once the home of National Film Board shorts (TV episodes run longer these days!) While demonstrating the usual cheap production values and terrible acting that are the hallmarks of Canadian productions, they quickly struck a chord. They engendered catchphrases (“Doctor, I smell burnt toast!“) and parodies (“Windy the Pooh”). This website – previously unknown to me – has what appears to be the entire collection available to browse. I list the Cartier clip, as it is my favourite, but there are a few others that are worth a visit as well.
