A sad confirmation of what I’ve been fearing for a while now: The Association des Etudiants Protestants de Paris (AEPP) has been shuttered. This was a fabulous hostel when I was visiting in 1998. A majority of its residents were long-term stays; students and sage travellers angling for a great deal. The rooms were spartan but clean, and the building arranged in such a way that the courtyard and cave served as a stage for parties and concerts. I’ve never stayed in a hostel so friendly or outgoing, and thanks to the realtors in the 6i
