Elwy Yost – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a cable avoider, I only get a handful of snow-free channels on the rabbit ears, but thankfully one of these is TVO. I’ve rediscovered my forgotten childhood habit of watching Saturday Night at the Movies and all of the related pre- and post-movie interviews, which are invariably hosted by Elwy Yost. As Canadians, we’re blessed with more than our fair share of legendary (or should-be-legendary) interviewers with a flair for affability and asking hard questions in a soft manner. The breadth of Elwy Yost’s interview catalog is quite amazing – he spoke with all the greats, and a number of the lesser lights as well, to collect backstage gossip, directorial viewpoints and actors’ anecdotes about thousands of movies. I imagine a good percentage of the IMDB’s trivia sections have originated from his reels.
