Rather than spending her post-political life settling down to the dinner circuit, ex-Minister of External Affairs Flora McDonald has taken to the remote areas of Afghanistan with her humanitarian NGO. She’s preaching the benefits of schools and health care (including birth control) in a country where international focus has mainly been on military action. I like the “bomb them with butter” approach, and am glad to see it paying off in Flora’s fief.
