I’ll leave the thumb-up for the fact that this is still an amazingly useful tool, but she’s as much the inventor of this solar fridge as Pat Boone was the inventor of his R&B rip-off songs. I suppose her true appeal (apart from being photogenic and having that patronizingly exclamatory “girl inventor!” label that the mainstream media laps up) is that she’s mass-producing a product that has been both uglied-up and shrunk-down from its original. Profit is king, after all.
