Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up an anti-tax “tea party” Wednesday with his stance against the federal government and for states’ rights as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, “Secede!”
I would remind Texas that they tried this before, and it didn’t work out too well. Last time it was based on slavery, now its income is based on (peak) oil. This is not a state that seems able to think long-term about its top industries.
