Marvel publishes a comic book version of Pride and Prejudice. For decades, comic artists have fetishised their female characters, and the habit seems to be hard to break: The Bennet girls all look like smouldering hussies with rampant cases of sex hair. It’s also discouraging that the backgrounds in every panel of this preview were swiped from the recent Keira Knightley film version. So this is the comic-book-ization of a film from a novel. Broken telephones like this are what cause things like this, though the zombie angle is far more inventive than anything Marvel promises. Shame, as the art (and wit) of the fake magazine that leads the article (but appears nowhere else within it) was quite engaging.
