Yep. And I’ve gotten pretty good at not taking people’s crap anymore. I have a few ex-friends as a result, but I’m a happier person for it.
Amen, sister. The catharsis for me was a few summers ago, when the parallel lines of a disease diagnosis and some particularly awful “friend” experiences led me to the conclusion that life is too short to be wasted on toxic people. I became rather infamous amongst my friends group for abandoning people at what, it seemed to some, to be the drop of a hat, but divesting yourself of those “friends” who drag you down makes you doubly aware of how much you love the ones you stick with.
