http://apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/06/05/apple-store-under-louvres-glass-pyramid-gets-the-green-light?source=yahoo_quote Apple’s application to build a store in Paris – its first in France – has been approved, according to the French financial daily La Tribune. The location: the Carrousel du Louvre, prime retail space under the pyramid that dominates Napoleon’s courtyard at the museum’s grand entrance. Oh, yes. OH, YES. Apple + Paris = […]

They Criticized Vista. And They Should Know. – New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/09/business/09digi.html?_r=1&em&ex=1205467200&en=5335775aae3491d3&ei=5087%0A&oref=slogin Microsoft senior executives “eat their own dog food”, only to find out it’s the poisonous, made-in-China variety that is Windows Vista: Then there’s Mike, who buys a laptop that has a reassuring “Windows Vista Capable” logo affixed. He thinks that he will be able to run Vista in all of its glory, as well […]

Me & You, Us, Forever – Movie Trailers – iTunes

http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/meyouusforever/ A 47 year old Christian man, on the other side of an unwanted divorce, thinks back and reminisces about his old high school girlfriend and first love of 30 years ago. This is, handily, the most promising trailer I’ve seen in ages. No dialogue, sappy flashbacks, wooden acting, and a “Christian” undercurrent? This will […]

AirMail: The worlds most perfect sleeve for the MacBook.

http://www.manilamac.com/ A laptop sleeve for the new MacBook Air. Though cute (it’s vinyl with a fleece inside), I can’t help but be disappointed: I initially thought the site was satirical, offering an actual manilla envelope for $30. In my books, bite beats craft almost every time.

Inside Apple Stores, a Certain Aura Enchants the Faithful – New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/27/business/27apple.html While in Paris this year, I was turned away by three different Apple-specific resellers when I asked if I could use one of their locked-down Macs to back up my months’ worth of travel photos. Not an unreasonable response from most businesses, I suppose, but I’m a longtime Apple user (and former employee), so […]

http://blogs.business2.com/apple/2007/08/apple-to-nbc-dr.html NBC’s bluff has been called by Apple, and its content has been yanked from the iTunes store. This despite NBC making up a huge percentage of the store’s business. As usual, the contention is the network wanting to charge more for the downloads than it would for a higher-quality DVD box set. I’d go […]

Apple Takes a Step Back With iMovie 08 – NYTimes.com

http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/08/17/apple-takes-a-step-back-with-imovie-08?em&ex=1187668800&en=2911b934cb25d75c&ei=5087%0A Two underwhelming reviews in two weeks from two Apple stalwarts on two new Apple products. This is a real bodyblow to my old alma mater. Especially since the bitterest of the reviews concerns what was once our killer app, iMovie. It seems the company’s focus on the iPhone has really sapped strength from other […]

Why Apple is the best retailer in America – March 19, 2007

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2007/03/19/8402321/index.htm?postversion=2007030809 I make no bones about my allegiance to Apple – beloved computing parent and – until recently – my long-time employer. I admire companies who do things right, which is why Apple’s always tops on my brand-loyalty list. I honestly believe the company is out for my best interests, at least in terms of […]

Why Apple is the best retailer in America – March 19, 2007

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2007/03/19/8402321/index.htm?source=yahoo_quote Terrific article with a great insight into Steve Jobs’ willingness to start from scratch and design and redesign until it’s right. We Apple fanatics are not quiet about our love for the company’s products. Jobs’ insistence on intelligent, practical design is infectious – after a while, you become less intrigued by the consistency of […]

http://blogs.business2.com/utilitybelt/2006/11/vista_microsoft.html?source=yahoo_quote Naturally, I’ll thumb-up anything that rings the death knell for Microsoft, but this is a legitimately thought-provoking piece. As per an earlier Stumble about how Apple has opened the world’s eyes to ease of use and usability, this article also questions how Microsoft will deal with Google’s invasion of the word processing and spreadsheet […]
