Paris, 1900

I’ve never been to a World’s Fair, and that spectacle seems to have diminished in importance over the past century. Back in the day, though, they were A Big Deal, as evidenced by these colourised photos from the Paris event, in which the city’s buildings seem to have doubled in number for the occasion – […]

Failing at LIFE

Two ying-yang features of “Web 2.0”, if you will (and please don’t): Terrible user interfaces and poke-fun-at-selfism when you don’t expect it. This collection of terrible LIFE Magazine covers are presented – with facepalmed commentary – by LIFE itself. (Well, the magazine, at least.) TED Talk: Franz Lanting’s LIFE

Nikon Hallowe’en Costume

Some guy made a “fully functional” Nikon camera Hallowe’en costume.  Holy crap, this thing is awesome, but for his sake I hope he doesn’t have to go to the bathroom on the 31st – it doesn’t look all that easy to wriggle out of. /practicality http://vimeo.com/31062460 Fully Functional Camera Costume from Tyler Card on Vimeo.

But any thought of attending is always dashed by the reality of spending days parched in a desert with a bunch of pretentious wankers off their tits on drugs.

Early 1900s in Colour – All around the world : citynoise.org

http://citynoise.org/article/10598 The entire archive (from whence these photos were ripped off) is a treasure, but as a Paris fanatic, this one was the most mind-blowing: Is this the only colour picture of the Palais du Trocadéro?
