Sort of a Diary(?)

http://squawkyelo.livejournal.com/ This is the girlfriend of one of my favourite web-comic artists, Drew Weing, and she’s an artist and nerd supreme in her own right. Between dark and foreboding comics, she often creates mind-blowingly whimsical art and toys. Her blog is a lot of fun to read for the same dark/whimsy contrast, albeit the dark […]

Sinister Bedfellows – Sunday , August 16 , 2009

http://mckenzee.comicgenesis.com/ Sinister Bedfellows is my favourite of the photo-webcomics out there. It’s not as Dark as A Softer World, and there’s a pleasant mix of foreboding and laugh-inducing strips that make it a great joy to check regularly; you never know what you’ll get.

http://longayelander.blogspot.com/ Fun blog written by an American living in “the most violent city in the developed world.” (a.k.a. Glasgow, where my family tree is firmly – possibly violently – rooted.) You need a healthy sense of humour if you’re to live amongst the Scots, for they have no mercy on those who can’t take a […]

http://www.lafargeecosystems.com/main/blog.php Owen and Mzee have a blog. You probably know them better as the famous ancient tortoise/orphaned baby hippo pairing that broke hearts across the world after the tsunami. Turns out they’re still together, which is sweet, and have some other zoo companions who are also blog stars. Below is hippo pal Cleo, in what […]

riverpilots favorite websites – StumbleUpon

http://riverpilot.stumbleupon.com/ I don’t have much time to dig deeper – I’m on a self-alloted StumbleBreak instead of working – but RiverPilot’s page is one I’ll be checking out again. I especially love his link to Detroit’s urban decay. I drove through the city this spring, and right across the river from Windsor, there is a […]

seanbonner: Wiki Gang Sign

http://www.seanbonner.com/blog/archives/002235.php The gang-sign itself is pretty funny, but the first four comments were what put me over into LOL* territory. * That’d be a gang-sign I could get behind!

Output

http://www.livejournal.com/users/stephenls?skip=20 Fans of Freaks & Geeks or The Royal Tenenbaums will recognise the writer of this blog, though obscurity is creeping up on him. He doesn’t seem to mind, though, being thoroughly immersed in his world of sci-fi and geekiness (he was obviously made to play Harris!) I’m not one for cyberpunk or fantasy, but […]

Boing Boing: Animated “walk-dont-walk” man on Taiwans traffic lights

http://www.boingboing.net/2005/11/25/animated_walkdontwal.html Amazing how a simple modification to a common item makes it far more useful. The little “walk-don’t-walk” man on Taiwan’s traffic lights appears in a grid of green LEDS. As the countdown timer ticks down to zero, the little man “walks faster and faster and breaks into a trot in the last seconds.
