Modern art often requires some quotes around “art” and a grain or two of salt with which to take it. Installation “art” is usually also accompanied by a self-applied slap to the forehead, all the better to force the pretension to be processed by one’s brain. Imagine my delight, then, to see this squeeful installation at the Tate Modern: A slide installed from every one of the museum’s floors. I’m sure there are salt-necessitating, headslap-inducing statements that accompany it, but they’re easily drowned out in the resulting whees and whoops. What a shame that it closes before I get to London! Sliding through a modern art gallery would be worth the cost of the boat ticket!
