The Mason Jar Blender Trick

If you unscrew the base from your blender pitcher, you’ll see that the blade fits perfectly onto a standard (not wide-mouth) mason jar and the base screws on to hold it securely. Fit it onto the blender and blend away! via The Mason Jar Blender Trick: Do You Know About This? — Tips from The […]

Kitchen SOS

One of my foodiest friends (and trust me, in my circle this is saying something) posted this on Facebook the other day.  I’m guilty of a lot of these kitchen crimes, though some unwittingly so.  If you spend any time at all on your cooking, these tips are worth a look. 8. You don’t know […]

Zoku Pop

I’d never heard of this quick-freeze popsicle maker until a friend giddily announced his purchase. One glance at the website won me over: Despite having no free space in my freezer, I’m determined to buy one of these as well as the overpriced and unnecessary but totally squee-worthy “Character Kit”. http://www.zokuhome.com/pages/zoku-character-kit

Bulgur Salad with Chickpeas, Roasted Peppers, and Spiced Cumin Dressing Recipe at Epicurious.com

http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Bulgur-Salad-with-Chickpeas-Roasted-Peppers-and-Spiced-Cumin-Dressing-109729 Inspired by Roger Ebert’s Twitter recipes, I recently bought a rice cooker, and have been having a grand couple of weeks testing out what kind of one-pot meals it can make. I threw this together just before stepping into the shower, and it was ready just after I stepped out. As if that wasn’t […]

Juggling Frogs: Make your own cookie cutter from clip-art and a foil pan

http://blog.jugglingfrogs.com/2007/10/make-your-own-cookie-cutter-from-clip.html I’ve been trying my unsteady hand at making dough ornaments. (This is the kind of mad undertaking that results from 9 months of continued unemployment.) After laboriously cutting out about 20 bird shapes by hand, this site’s looking pretty good. Seasoning For Chicken Like The Colonels

http://www.copycat-recipes.net/recipes/seasoning_for_chicken_like_the_colonels.html Ye Gods, Kentucky Fried Chicken is revolting! My last meal – a super-fatty chicken skin covering undercooked meat – was bad enough to have started boycott that’s going on 7 or 8 years now. That said, the “11 herbs and spices” mix is an admittedly intoxicating blend, so it’s nice to see a recipe […]

A Year of Slow Cooking: CrockPot Ginger Teriyaki Tofu Recipe

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/03/crockpot-ginger-teriyaki-tofu-recipe.html I made this last night – the first of what I assume will be many attempts at the CrockPot Lady’s oeuvre. Add in a half-can of black beans, and some mushrooms in an attempt to healthify, and it’s really quite terrific. I served it over a bowl of buckwheat noodles.
