Obituary for Andr Devigny, the titular hero of A Man Escaped and (fittingly) a hard man to Google. A real-life MacGyver, he managed to break out of a Gestapo prison using only items found in his cell. I once had a bit of a saddo moment in a Paris museum that featured his homemade ropes in a glass case.
