It’s not unusual to see more and more DIY-oriented companies offering alternative energy products for sale, but I have a great deal of respect for Canadian Tire’s efforts on the subject. Here’s a dedicated website to solar and wind-powered items, with helpful instructions for first-timers. Making the process far less daunting will result in more people trying it, and in the case of energy use, every little bit helps. When the preservation of the environment and changing mindsets is at stake, the argument that CanTire stands to make a lot of money doesn’t bother me one iota.
