I am of an age where “personal audio” appears to have come full circle: Ghetto blasters gave way to Walkmen, which reduced in size and capacity, and somehow these have lost their earphones and stepped back to become tiny, tinny, just-as-annoying digital ghetto blasters. And the twerps who use them really put the emphasis on the ghetto part.
On a related note, there should be an amendment to Murphy’s Law, in that those people with the worst taste in music are always the ones to foist it upon others. Usually by extra-annoying foisting methods such as neighbourhood-shaking car stereos or white-noise speakerphones.
