Iowa’s Supreme Court legalized gay marriage Friday in a unanimous and emphatic decision that makes Iowa the third state – and the first in the nation’s heartland – to allow same-sex couples to wed.
If you’d asked me (or anyone, really) the order in which the states would accept gay marriage, Iowa would’ve been near the bottom of the list. The fact that they’re actually #3 is terrific. Hopefully a sign that the stigma of “gay” is dissipating in the heartland.
