A Man Escaped

Roger Ebert reviews one of my favourite movies.

I took a Cinema 101 course in University. The prof was kind of a dink and most of the movies were awful, but this new-to-me film made it entirely worth the registration fee. The class (who nattered through every other film) was dead silent, and we were all riveted to the edge of our seats despite – as the dink pointed out – the ending being spoiled in the title.

As if the film wasn’t mind-blowing enough, I stopped into a WWII museum in Paris and happened upon the homemade ropes André Devigny used in the actual escape. I’d assumed the MacGyver main character was just a fictional creation, but nope – it was all based on a real-life escape.
