The Simpsons – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A somewhat padded list of made-up words from the Simpsons. Scary to note how many of these have made it into common parlance. I myself am guilty of “meh”-ing many a thing.

An interjection expressing apathy, general indifference, and boredom, meh does not originate with The Simpsons, but has been dramatically popularized by it. Its perhaps most notable use is in the episode “Hungry, Hungry Homer,” when Homer excitedly asks his children if they would like to go to the amusement park Blockoland. Bart and Lisa respond, “Meh”. When Homer is confused by the indifference of his children, Bart responds telling him they already said, “Meh”. Thinking that maybe Homer simply didn’t understand what Bart said, Lisa adds, “M-E-H. Meh.”
