Seasoning For Chicken Like The Colonels

http://www.copycat-recipes.net/recipes/seasoning_for_chicken_like_the_colonels.html Ye Gods, Kentucky Fried Chicken is revolting! My last meal – a super-fatty chicken skin covering undercooked meat – was bad enough to have started boycott that’s going on 7 or 8 years now. That said, the “11 herbs and spices” mix is an admittedly intoxicating blend, so it’s nice to see a recipe […]

Honeycomb – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeycomb I attended a beekeeping seminar tonight, and got to hold a frame full of capped honeycomb. The smell was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced: Not as sweet as a jar of honey – almost like a perfume. It’d be worth the stings and the sweat of cracking open a hive […]

A Year of Slow Cooking: CrockPot Ginger Teriyaki Tofu Recipe

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/03/crockpot-ginger-teriyaki-tofu-recipe.html I made this last night – the first of what I assume will be many attempts at the CrockPot Lady’s oeuvre. Add in a half-can of black beans, and some mushrooms in an attempt to healthify, and it’s really quite terrific. I served it over a bowl of buckwheat noodles.

A Year of Slow Cooking

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ My sis and BIL gave me crockpot for Xmas a few years ago, and I’ve surprised myself at how much I’ve used it. Finding recipes that aren’t simply soup is sometimes difficult, though, so imagine my delight at finding Stephanie’s blog, wherein she created a crockpot recipe for every day of 2008. I have […]

Larissa Meek & Blog Archive & 26 Cakes Perfect for Geeks

http://www.larissameek.com/2009/01/12/26-cakes-perfect-for-geeks/ High-effort cake-making with a decidedly geeky bent. As much as my nerdy, nerdy mouth is watering, I remember that the more fantastic the cake looks, the more unpalatable it is. I’ll stick with this instead.

APPLE DUMPLINGS | APPLE DUMPLING RECIPE

http://www.apple-pie-crisp-dumplings-recipes.com/ I went to The Royal a month ago, and came very, very close to plopping $5 down on a freshly cooked apple dumpling. As I was soon to be unemployed, my inner Scot took over and denied the urge. It also forced me to pay attention to the on-display dumpling-making process, which I’m happy […]

Noble Pig: Two-Ingredient Pumpkin Cake with Apple Cider Glaze

http://noblepig.com/2008/11/11/the-pilgrims-would-approve.aspx Bookmarker of a thousand online recipes, maker of none, I broke from my tradition and actually cooked this up last night. I am pleased to report that not only did it turn out looking exactly like the photo, it tasted amazing (usually I get one or the other, never both). I am less pleased […]

Baked Sweet Potato Fries Anyone?

http://zestycook.com/baked-sweet-potato-fries-anyone/ This may be the second sweet potato fries recipe I’ve posted, but I think it bears repetition. Also, this recipe adds the delicious hint of soaking the cut potato in order to increase crispiness, so bonus marks for that.

Nikibone.com – Soup Recipes

http://www.nikibone.com/recipe/soups.html My immediate reaction, when confronted with a big list of soup names, was to Stumble on. But then I remembered that I really, really like soup.
